Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is the discipline of plastic surgery related to the restoration of a normal appearance.

The scope of reconstruction extends from repair of trauma – particularly hand trauma where microsurgical reattachment of parts may need to be performed -through to the treatment of burns victims, reconstruction of the breast in breast cancer patients after  a mastectomy, management of cleft lip and palate, and treatment of skin cancers and other congenital abnormalities.

James McDiarmid is a specialist in reconstructive surgery and it has played a huge part in his career so far.
